Radcliffe AC have unveiled a new club badge which reflects the town’s heritage.

The logo, in the club’s yellow and black colours, has been designed by the company which created Radcliffe Borough FC’s badge.

It incorporates images of Radcliffe Parish Church, the former town hall and the River Irwell, and includes the motto Industria Didat - Industry Enriches – from the town’s coat of arms.

A diverse group of runners represents the club’s inclusive ethos, while flying birds symbolise the feeling of exhilaration and freedom that running brings.

Radcliffe AC was formed in 1985 and is known as the ‘small and friendly club’. No longer small, with around 150 members, it is still renowned for its welcoming atmosphere.

Members compete in road, trail, fell and cross country races over a variety of distances – from a mile to ultras – and the club also organises a series of popular races.

Chairman Chris Paxton said: “The club is going from strength to strength so this seemed like an ideal time to replace our old logo, which had a generic picture of runners, with one that reflects the club’s values and heritage.

“I am very pleased with the design; it really is eye-catching – just like our club colours – and the response from members has been very positive.”
