The Amazon Bolton team has donated £2,000 to domestic abuse charities in the local area.
£1,000 has been donated to Fortalice, a charity that works with victims and their children who are affected by domestic abuse and violence. The charity offers frontline services including a 24-hour helpline, live chat, crisis and advocacy work, training and group work and a refuge for women and children, with 22 flats.
Amazon has supported Fortalice in the past with a £1,000 donation in 2020, which was used to purchase laptops to help families in the charity’s refuge to communicate with each other.
Endeavour Project also received £1,000 from the Amazon team in Bolton. Endeavour is a community charity that provides emotional and practical support for individuals and families affected by domestic abuse. The Endeavour Project also offers a programme to help the beloved pets of the people who have been put in vulnerable situations to ensure the safety of all family members.
Nicolas Verdon, Site Leader at Amazon in Bolton, said:
“We would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Fortalice and Endeavour for their ongoing services which are greatly appreciated in the Bolton community. Lockdown has been a difficult time for everyone, but particularly for those experiencing domestic abuse. This donation will go towards helping those seeking safety.”
Gill Smallwood, Chief executive from Fortalice, added:
“We are grateful for the support Amazon has shown us over the past few months. We will be putting the money towards providing resources to work with children and young people. The resources will help us, to help children work through the trauma they have suffered.”
Angela Gray from Endeavour Project, added:
“On behalf of everyone here at Endeavour Project, I would like to thank the Amazon team in Bolton for this donation. Lockdown has been a difficult time for everyone, but particularly for those experiencing domestic abuse and we are grateful for this support.”
