QUICK CROSSWORD A PROJECT to high- light the history of Horwich continues to gain momentum in the town. The Horwich Herit- age group has installed four more of its striking historical information boards at key sites. They can be found at the former Mechan- ics Institute and Vic- toria Mills sites on Chorley New Road, along with the Wall- suches site on Chorley Old Road and near to the Public Graves in Getting history on board New additions: Some of the latest information boards (Photo credit: Horwich Heritage) Ridgmont Cemetery. The group has also revealed it has two more of the boards, which highlight the locations that have played such an important part in the town’s story, in the pipeline. A group spokesperson said: “Thanks to the Bol- ton Council Highways department and the Bol- ton Council Cemetery Department. Thanks to our own Ste Hamer and of course Roy Davies for his fabrication work and for manag ing the installations.” The new boards are the latest in a series which has seen installations at the former MBDA/ Aerospace operation on Lostock Lane, the main approach to the former Horwich Loco Works site on Chorley New Road and at the Crown Hotel, fac- ing Scholes Bank. There are also boards in the Old Station Park, recounting the story of the town’s former rail- way station.
