Putting the focus on safeguarding L A NCA SH I R E ’ S Police andCrime Com- missioner Clive Grun- shaw has had talks with a government minister to discuss how to tackle vio- lence against women and girls. He met with Jess Phillips to discuss joint efforts to protect commu- nities and bring offenders to justice. During the meeting in London, they explored the progress being made in the county to reduce the number of victims and improve outcomes for those affected by violence. They also reviewed key proposals within the new Crime and Policing Bill, including enhanced protections against stalking and measures to address spiking. The conversation also looked ahead to future opportunities to strengthen legislation, supporting the govern- ment’s ambition to halve incidents of violence against women and girls within the next decade. Mr Grunshaw said: “It was valuable to speak with Jess Phillips about the work already under- way in Lancashire, where we are taking a zero-toler- ance approach to violence against women and girls. “Our focus is on secur- ing justice for victims, encouraging reporting, breaking cycles of abuse, and preventing harm before it happens.”
