A trip to the Space Needle, a visit to the world-famous Pike Place Market and a ticket to the Seattle Thunderbirds were just some of the activities enjoyed by Agnieszka Oles from Bolton after she jetted off on the trip of a lifetime to Seattle.
Agnieszka, who works at Amazon in Bolton, made the trip to Seattle after taking part in the I Found the Right Place programme.
The programme invites Amazon employees working across the UK to tell the company why it is the right place for them and what they love most about life at Amazon.
In her story, Agnieszka said she believes she’s achieved more in one year with Amazon than in ten years at other jobs. She loves the progression opportunities available to everyone at Amazon and called out her team as being ‘absolutely brilliant.’
More than 600 employees from across Amazon’s UK customer fulfilment network took part, with the chance to visit the company’s headquarters in Seattle.
Agnieszka jetted off to Seattle for a week of fun and adventures, where she joined colleagues from across the UK to have a tour of the global headquarters and a robotics fulfilment centre, where they met Dave Clark, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations at Amazon. She also enjoyed lots of food and entertainment at restaurants like FareStart, which helps fund programmes to alleviate poverty and homelessness and gives apprentices real-world job experience.
Speaking on the trip, Agnieszka said: “The whole trip has been the most amazing experience and I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to visit Amazon Campus and the Seattle fulfilment centre. It was great to meet colleagues in the US in such a friendly environment and I loved seeing some of the dogs who come to Amazon Campus every day!
“Seattle is a vibrant, beautiful city. Pike Place Market was a great place to visit and I loved trying all the different types of food on offer there. It’s been the trip of a lifetime and I’d urge all of my colleagues at Amazon in Bolton to sign up for the next I Found the Right Place programme – you will have the most amazing time.”
Nicolas Verdon, Site Leader at Amazon in Bolton, added: “Agnieszka’s story of why she loves working at Amazon was fantastic and we were proud to see her jet off to Seattle on the trip. I Found The Right Place is one of a number of programmes we run at Amazon to recognise and reward the great work our associates do to deliver for our customers. It was great to welcome Agnieszka home and we loved hearing all about her trip.”
Amazon employees have access to a wide range of benefits, including private medical insurance, life assurance, income protection, subsidised meals, an employee discount, which combined are worth more than £700 annually, as well as a company pension plan.
Amazon also offers employees the opportunity to participate in an innovative programme called Career Choice. Career Choice provides funding for adult education, offering to pre-pay 95% of tuition and associated fees for nationally recognised courses, up to £8,000 over four years.
