YOUNGSTERS enjoying Bolton activity charity WAVE Adventure's indoor climbing session had a surprise visit from top BBC Radio 2 presenter OJ Borg and his team.

The session was part of a BBC Children in Need funded project run by the charity to get disadvantaged children and young people taking part in adventurous activities.

And the youngsters were thrilled when the BBC Radio team rolled up their sleeves and joined in with the fun and games.

OJ interviewed a young person 20 feet up the wall - and then completed a 50 foot climb!

In the second year of a three year project funded by Children in Need, WAVE has worked with 1,300 children and young people.

They have taken part in rock climbing, gorge walking, kayaking, mountain biking and team building sessions. Some have gone on to become mentors and volunteers supporting other disadvantaged young people to get involved.

WAVE founder Graham Wood said: "It was fantastic to see the confidence and skills the children aged six and over displayed. OJ, Dan and Jordan from the team were great - really getting involved in the session, which was exciting for the children parents and volunteers.

"Without the support of BBC Children in Need we would quite simply not be able to provide the wide range of activities which enrich local young people's lives."
