Jamie Death, a Y9 pupil at Bolton School Boys’ Division, has continued to show his judo pedigree during the first few months of the year. In January he fought at the Midland Open where he won Gold in the U15 competition and passed the assessment onto the Regional England Development Squad for the following year. He suffered a knock-back in February, after being dropped on his head at training and injuring his neck which meant he had 5 weeks off and included missing the English Open!
Returning to training two weeks ago, he then fought at the Merseyside Open, where he moved up a weight category to U55Kg and won Gold again. As the number of entries was low, Jamie was asked to fight in the U60kg category where he also won both of his fights! He was then asked to fight in the U66Kg where there was only one other entrant who was also a British Championship medallist. In a close fight, he lost out giving away 13Kg.
