Bolton Town Hall with shine pink and blue on Monday (October 15) for Baby Loss Awareness Week.

The landmark building will be lighting up in support of parents who have suffered the devastation of losing a baby.

The national campaign, held from October 9 to 15, raises awareness about the key issues affecting those who have experienced the loss of a child.

The town hall will be illuminated from dusk until dawn to show Bolton Council’s backing for the week.

Baby loss occurs in many forms including stillbirth, miscarriage, neonatal death, and postnatal including sudden infant death syndrome.

Baby Loss Awareness Week finishes on October 15, which is also recognised as International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day.

Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr Linda Thomas, said: “We hope that turning the town hall pink and blue will encourage more people to talk about baby loss.

“Every year, thousands are affected by pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

“This is an opportunity to give bereaved parents, families and friends to talk about their precious babies and commemorate their lives.”
