Appeal following serious collision in Bolton

Police are appealing for information after a serious collision in Bolton.

A red Vauxhall Astra collided with a blue Scania Irizar coach at the junction of Crompton Way and Seymour Road, Astley Bridge, at 8.17am on Tuesday 11 September.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a man age 37, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

The driver of the Scania coach remained at the scene to assist officers with their enquiries.

There have been no arrests.

Police Constable John Harrison-Gough of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This was a very serious incident that has left a man fighting for his life.

“Our thoughts remain with him and his family at this difficult time.

“We are building a picture of what happened during this collision, and it is essential that anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam footage or saw the vehicles prior to the collision to contact police immediately.”
