Bolton Hospice has launched a brand new fundraising event with a festive twist.
This year is the first year of Hike the Pike, a family friendly walk from Ridgmont House in Horwich to Rivington Pike on Sunday December 10th to raise funds for the hospice.
All the family are invited to take part, including children and dogs, and registration includes a Santa suit for adults and an elf costume for children. Dogs are welcome to attend in their own festive attire too!
Once walkers reach the top of the Pike, children can post their letters to Santa in our special post box which is sent straight to the North Pole and you can also remember someone you miss this Christmas by carrying their photograph with you in a special heart-shaped bauble.
The walk is a five-mile round trip with seasonal treats before at Ridgmont House, where you can enjoy winter-warmers such as mulled wine and mince pies and on your return, hot festive food to purchase to finish off the perfect family winter hike.
Maria Passarello, Events Manager, is urging people to get into the festive fundraising spirit with the hospice: “We would like to you all to walk with us, as a family or a group, to celebrate the festive season and to remember all the loved ones we miss at this time.
This five-mile uphill challenge will offer a unique opportunity for all participants, dressed as Santas and elves to celebrate this Christmas like never before. A Royal Mail post box will be placed at the top of the pike for everyone to post their last wish list to Santa.
Decorated in memory hearts can be hung as they reach the top in remembrance for all their loved ones. The spirit of Christmas is truly captured in the sentiment of this event and hopefully it will bring joy and good tidings for us all.”
Registration costs £10 for adults and £7.50 for children and this includes a festive outfit as well as a letter for Santa for children.
