Police appeal for witnesses after collision

Police are investigating after a man died in a collision in Bolton.

At about 7.15pm on Friday October 6th, a green VW Passat was driving on the westbound carriageway of Topp Way in Bolton, when it collided with a man who was crossing at the pedestrian crossing.

The man, aged 72, sadly died in hospital.

The driver stopped at the scene and no-one has been arrested.

Officers from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Police Constable Paul Shore of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This was a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the man’s family at this terrible time.

“I would ask that anybody who saw what happened or has dash-cam footage to come forward.”
