Appeal for witnesses to Tonge Moor Road collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died following a collision in Bolton.

Shortly before 5.15am on Monday August 7th, police were called to reports of a serious collision involving a BMW 530 and Chevrolet Matiz on Tonge Moor Road.

A 42-year-old man who was travelling in the Chevrolet was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries and sadly died.

A man and a woman, both aged 34, who were travelling in the BMW have been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and causing death by dangerous driving.

Both remain in custody for questioning.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage to come forward.

Police Constable Paul Shore of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This was a tragic incident which has left a family absolutely devastated and I would like to offer my sincere condolences to them at this difficult time.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dash cam footage which may help us get a clearer idea of the circumstances surrounding the collision.”
